Rubeus Hagrid is the gamekeeper at Hogwarts. Hagrid was expelled from Hogwarts in his third year. He was expelled for a thing he didn't do. He was accused of opening the chamber of secrets and letting out the basilisk.
When Hagrid was very young his giantess mother died. Then, when he was in his second year at Hogwarts, his father died. When his dad was alive, Hagrid could very easily pick him up, as easily as a regular person could pick up a book.
After Hagrid was expelled, Dumbledore looked after him and gave him work at Hogwarts as the Gamekeeper. Dumbledore trusted Hagrid with doing stuff like picking up Harry from his house.
Hagrid also went to go pick up Harry for his first term of Hogwarts, and to get his things. Hagrid was sent to Azkaban in Harry's second year because the chamber of secrets was open again, and the ministry of magic thought Hagrid might have opened it up.
Hagrid is introduced in the first movie.
